Last week, SHINee had special guests to perform with as they had Super Junior's Yesung and Leeteuk filling in one at a time as Jonghyun and Onew took turns being absent due to their diagnose with swine flu.
Today on Music Bank, SHINee performed their hit-song Ring Ding Dong, but yet again they were missing a member and leader, Onew, who is still not fully fit and recovering from swine flu. Unfortunately this time they performed as a 4 member group, without any fill in for Onew.
Let's hope that we see a full-member SHINee performance soon!

Exam Time For Your Favorite Idols!
It's that time of the year: EXAM TIME!
On the 12th of November, the 3rd year High School students will be taking their "sooneung (수능)" which is equivalent to the SAT's. Most students have been preparing for this test all year (more like all their lives), and the young celebrity idols are no exception to this population.
So, who's taking the test?
2AM's Jung Jin Woon, 4Minute's Jeon Ji Yoon and Heo Ga Yoon, SHINee's Minho, and FT Island's Jae Jin are only some of the idols in the bunch.
4 out of 6 members of the rookie group, BEAST, Yong Jun Hyung, Jang Hyun Seung, Lee Ki Gwang, and Son Dong Woon, will be taking the test.
2NE1's CL should be taking the exam, however, she will not because she is very occupied with 2NE1's upcoming album. Also, because of the busy schedules of Kara's Nicole and Goo Hara, they will not be taking the exam. Nicole, who does not have a Korean high school diploma because she came from America, is preparing to take the qualification exam (검정고시) which is taken by those who do not have a high school diploma to get into college.
On the other hand, many celebrities are getting recruited from colleges these days.
Recently, Girl's Generation's Yuri, and Big Bang's Seung Ri were accepted into JoongAng University and DongGuk University's School of Theater and Film. Also, Girl's Generation's Seohyun, and Son Dambi were admitted into other prestigious schools.
Will this year's applicants have as much success as the previous year's?
All we can do is wish them GOOD LUCK!!

SHINee headed to the Philippiness
According to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), popular boy group SHINee along with rap duo Mighty Mouth will be heading to the Philippines on November 27th to perform a free K-pop concert for the fans. From the article:
"For Pinoy K-pop fans, November is the season to be jolly. To cap the year-long celebration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and the Philippines, the Korean Embassy will hold on November 19-27 the Korean Cultural Festival, which will let Filipinos have a taste of Korean food, dance, music, theater, and arts.
But the most-awaited event in the week-long festival is the free K-pop concert scheduled on November 27. It will feature popular Korean front acts like boyband Shinee, jazz band Winterplay, and energetic rap duo Mighty Mouth. In an email message to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Blaise Regacho, Executive Assistant on Economic & Cultural Affairs for the Korean Embassy, said the concert was borne out of several petitions by avid K-pop fans in the country, to bring Korean stars to the Philippines. Shinee was the first group they were able to get, she added." - PEP
Good news for the K-pop fans in the Philippines. Hopefully SHINee's Onew is fully recovered from swine flu before he heads to the country. Boys Over Flowers star Kim Bum recently visited the Philippines to film a CF with Maja Salvador. Thanks to nins for the tip and remember to visit the SFI Forums.

Ring Ding Dong with Lee Teuk
With a Sephiroth-inspired music video and a hot cameo this week, it's no surprise that SHINee is ringing its way up the charts and dominating music shows. Although hot contenders BEAST and MBLAQ have been gaining substantial followings, they couldn't beat out their senior male group on Inkigayo. Congrats to SHINee for their second Mutizen with Ring Ding Dong!
After Jonghyun reportedly fully recovered from swine flu, many people were looking forward to the return to normal stages with the original five members, and were fully dismayed upon the discovery that Onew had fallen victim to the swine flu trend as well. Instead of performing as an Onew-less quartet, the remaining boys swapped their leader for Super Junior's main man Leeteuk. Check out the performance below:
The SuJu leader made his appearance during the latter half of the performance, showing some SM family love for his junior idols. It's definitely interesting to see this "special stage" of sorts, but we hope that Onew makes a recovery soon! Make sure to check out SHINee's elastically fan-tastic international forum.
Many thanks to CodeMonmonSeason4 for videos.

SHINee’s Onew gets Swine Flu

The curse of the swine flu seems to have struck SHINee. Having only just reported hours earlier that Jonghyun had recovered fully from swine flu, it was reported now that SHINee's leader, Onew has also been hit by it.
The announcement came at around 6pm on 7th November as it was reported that Onew had developed a gentle, mild fever last night. He was sent to the hospital today and tests have shown that he has contracted swine flu.
Onew has been prescribed Tamiflu and is now back home resting.
The other three SHINee members, Key, Minho and Taemin were also tested for precaution, and neither of them have shown any symptoms of the illness fortunately.
So that explains why SHINee wasn't performing on Music Core as scheduled today.
So with Onew at home resting, it might look like SHINee will be performing as a 4-member group instead on the 8th November episode of Inkigayo. But it was revealed that Super Junior's leader, Leeteuk will take the place of Onew for tomorrow.
SHINee’s Jonghyun is fully recovered
During the four days of Jonghyun's absence due to his diagnosis of swine flu, the fans had to suffer the unbearable emptiness on the stage. Although his spot was filled with Super Junior's Yesung, SHINee did not "shine" as brightly as when they were together. But no worries now! It seems like Jonghyun is finally free from the virus. It has been reported that Jonghyun is now fully recovered from the flu, but not quite to return back to his activities yet.
SM Entertainment stated,
"Jonghyun is fully recovered from the swine flu. However, his physical condition is still not the best, so we will have to see."
Jonghyun showed his strong desire to return on stage as well. Since he could not face the members himself because of the airborne H1N1 virus, he filmed a word of encouragement for his members and called each one of them before the performance. He also delivered a heartfelt apology for not being able to be with them. Now, that's what I call friendship!
Meanwhile, SHINee was recently triple-crowned for their song, Ring Ding Dong for not only on SBS Inkigayo and KBS Music Bank, but also on this month's Mnet's M! Countdown. Hope to see you soon, Jonghyun!

SHINee’s Jonghyun having a fast recovery

We recently reported that SHINee's Jonghyun was diagnosed with swine flu (H1N1). Fortunately, he is currently showing a fast recovery!
SM Entertainment had a phone call with Newsen on the 4th, stating:
He is currently receiving Tamiflu and other treatments in his home. He wasn't in a serious condition to begin with and because of his strong and fit body, he is showing a fast recovery. The hospital estimated that he will be fully recovered within a week."
SHINee is currently active as a 4 member group. Let's hope that he will recover in time for their performances of Ring Ding Dong on this week's music programs!

SHINee’s Fan meeting in Japan!
SHINee's first fan meeting in Japan on August 10th seems to have gone very well, at least from these recordings - unfortunately there are no video's available.
Regardless, Jong Hyun's vocals were freaking amazing! I just wish they come back with another hit track like "Noona is so pretty," because I wasn't a big fan of their last track "Juliette." All good though, check out these audio clips from the fan meet, the girls were loving it and I'm sure you ladies will as well.

SHINee on Hyun Young’s Music Party Radio

The SHINee boys, minus their maknae, recently performed their hit "Juliette" on HyunYoung's Radio Show. Taemin and his big, ugly hair were conspicuously absent due to his filming schedule for Tae Hee, Hye Kyo, Ji Hyun. But the other four gave a truly impressive performance, as their voices were on point all throughout the song. You get to hear Minho's sexy, manly voice at around 1:09, and Jonghyun really got into it in the last 45 seconds. Take a listen (or I guess I should say take a look as well since the camera angles got awkward in some places):
And an extra little somethin' somethin' that will surely make SHINee fans smile:
They're ridiculously cute, I can't stand it! I will always love these boys simply because they made me feel better about being a noona.

4minute are SHINee’s Juliettes

4minute is just gathering more and more antis. After a short dance break with 2PM on last week's MBC Music Core, 4minute has moved on to SHINee for the ending of SHINee's "Juliette" performance. Before fans of both groups start jamming furiously on their keyboards, check out the performance from "Jailbait Generation" (except for SHINee's leader Onew, everyone in each group was born in the 90s).
Hey, other than their outfits' blinding explosions of color, it's not all that bad! I'm not exactly sure who decided to put that ghastly shirt on Taemin, though. Still, SHINee was smiling, 4minute was smiling, and Onew/Jiyoon looked especially cute (not even Jiyoon's sunglasses could hide her bright expression). Just like last week's 2:04PM collaboration, the actual amount of time both groups appeared on stage was pretty short. The managers probably realized that unless you're as popular as WonderBang, long collaboration performances only means more antis.
In other 4minute news, they also performed "Hot Issue" on this week's Music Core.
In other SHINee news, July 18th is maknae Taemin's 16th birthday in America, and 17th birthday in Korea! 생일축하합니다!

That means it's just two more years until this becomes legal.

SHINee’s Taemin is Hot For Tutor

When he's not manipulating his dexterous fingers or showing off his Ronald McDonald perm, one can find SHINee's maknae Taemin on the MBC sitcom "Tae-Hee, Hye-Gyo, Ji-Hyun". On the cheesy-ish show, he plays Junsu, a parent's dream with impeccable grades and impeccable manners. But in the first seventy-or-so episodes, the 1993-er only appeared for 1-2 minutes an episode, if at all, due to rather wooden acting that revealed his inexperience. But Taemin has improved his acting over time, leading to his first significant story arc, which finds Taemin/Junsu hot for tutor.
While Taemin/Junsu had previously revealed some evidence of his fancy for his personal tutor with lingering looks, he first begins making some progress on episode 84:
Somehow resisting the urge to start singing "Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)", Taemin/Junsu later finds out that his uncle is starting to date the tutor. The jealous student engages in some sabotage in episode 87:
and finally ends up going on a semi-date with his tutor, which would be cute if it wasn't so pedo. Considering the tutor's glazed eyes at the end of the following cut, this storyline might start leaning towards some illegal actions.

SHINee’s 2nd Consecutive Victory on SBS Inkigayo

After last week's victory and their sixth-place finish on KBS Music Bank's 2PM-led K-chart, SHINee and SHINee World probably weren't expecting another victory on SBS Inkigayo. But, SBS's magic formula (nobody is really sure how SBS determines its victor) churned out another mutizen for SHINee, providing a most-likely final trophy for the "Juliette" promotions, as next week signals the beginning of the estrogen onslaught - SNSD, 2NE1, and 4minute.
Here's SHINee's victory/encore.
and their "Juliette" performance, courtesy of prot0980.
Almost inevitably, Jonghyun went straight to tears, though he didn't sob as hard as he did for their first "Juliette" victory a month ago at KBS Music Bank. Onew proceeds to thank every single member of SM Entertainment in his acceptance speech, including his sunbaes DBSK, Super Junior, and SNSD. He probably O-knew that this might be the last time SHINee takes the victory stage for a while, so the leader just wanted to make sure everybody got some thanks. Sorry Sorry for that cheesy pun.

It's hard to believe that the smiling angel and youngest member of SHINee not only can power dance his way into noonas' panties hearts but also piano his way into them. Taemin showed that not only does he have superb control of his body, but he also has great control of his nimble fingers as well. He did not hold back as he reached his fingers down, and fingered that piano to the tune of "River Flows in You". With this performance, Taemin's noona fans everywhere are probably feeling guilty for having inappropriate thoughts about romancing an underage boy. He could probably now introduce himself as "Hello! I'm SHINee's perfect jail bait, Taemin".

Comment: Koyote, one of k-pop's signature pop dance groups, return with their 10th album minus Kim Jong Min, who could not participate as he is in military service. It's been three years since their last album. The title track "Nonsense" is at No. 7 this week. It was composed by hit-makers Kim Do Hun and Kim Sejin. This dance track has 80s-style house rhythms and incorporates trendy synthesizer sounds.

Comment: Sexy diva Chae Yeon moves up one more spot to No. 8 this week with "Shake". DJ Koo of Clon also offered 2 re-mixed versions of this song. While Chae Yeon was on hiatus from music between her last album and now, many female singles with similar styles to hers have emerged. Now Chae Yeon is out to re-capture her fans once again. The timing of this release is good as we are getting into summer and dance hits always do well in this season.

Comment: This is the representative track for SG Wannabe's 6th album "Gift From SG WANNABE". Composer Cho Young-soo, who has long produced the group's tracks, produced this Simon & Garfunkel-style song, which features beautiful harmonies. The music video tells a sad love story between actor Baek Jong-min and Jiyeon, a new member of SeeYa. (credits to Arirang TV - Pops In Seoul)

Comment: Veteran Lee Seung Chul drops two spot to No. 10 this week with "My Nails Came Off". The song comes from his 10th album titled Mutopia. The word Mutopia mixes the two words “music” and “utopia” together to show fans the journey music has taken him throughout his life. This song is composed by Jun Hae Sung, who also wrote the song “Long Day”. The song has a rock style and Lee Seung Chul's trademark sincere vocals.

SHINee Wins Mutizen at Inkigayo

Shining brightly despite their leader's difficult week, teenage quintet SHINee won their first Mutizen for "Juliette" on SBS Inkigayo. It appears that Inkigayo's formula allows for late bloomers, as this song and 2NE1's "Fire" were released over a month before they started winning Mutizens on the Sunday music show.
Here's their victory...
and their "Juliette" performance, courtesy of CodeMonmonSeason3
Like good little dongsaengs, the first thing SHINee did after the victory announcement was bow to their SM noonas SNSD (who were not up for the award; just in case you were wondering). Onew then thanks SHINee's various mentors with a huge smile (nothing wipes away exhaustion like a good ol' victory), but of course, in typical Onew Sangtae fashion, his voice ends up cracking five octaves. Stick to this funny sangtae, Onew, and you'll simply make your manager frown instead of having him carry you off stage. Boys' Generation member Key, however, ends up stirring the pot a little by yelling "song for my So Nyeo Shi Dae" in the encore. While I'm sure it was just a fun display of respect, stating that Girls' Generation are the "Juliette"s to your Romeo might not be the best way to keep one's anti-count low.
